How accurate is the photo scanning?
Cal Cal uses state-of-the-art AI vision to identify your food and estimate portions. You can add a short dish-name hint for better results, and when the AI isn't confident it asks you one clarifying question instead of silently guessing. Every value stays editable — adjust the weight in grams or ounces and the macros rescale automatically.
Do I have to photograph everything I eat?
No — photos are just the fastest option. You can also scan a barcode, describe your meal in plain words, re-log a saved or recent meal in one tap, or type it in manually. Six ways to log, so there's always one that fits the moment.
How is my calorie plan calculated?
During onboarding you answer a few quick questions — goal, age, body metrics, activity level and desired pace. Cal Cal builds a personalized daily calorie target, macro split, and an estimated goal date. Change your details or your pace anytime and the plan recalculates.
Does it work with Apple Health?
Yes. Cal Cal reads your steps and active calories from Apple Health, and you can optionally add exercise calories back into your daily budget — or enable rollover so unused calories carry into tomorrow.
How does the free trial work?
The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial — full access to everything. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID and can be cancelled anytime in your iPhone's Settings.
Is my data private?
Your food diary, weight history and plan live on your device. Meal photos are sent securely for analysis only and aren't used to build advertising profiles. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
Which devices are supported?
Cal Cal is built for iPhone and requires iOS 17 or later. An Android version is on the roadmap — let us know if you want it and we'll email you when it ships.
